I used to always be at my happiest when outside pottering in the garden. Particularly weeding, oh the joy in that, a simple pleasure. That was until I painted a portrait in my local art class, it was like a light had been switched on inside me, I was mesmerised by what I had achieved.
Now a great pleasure for me is to paint, hours immersed in bringing a piece of paper alive. Giving a picture a life and a soul.
Painting eliminates everything from your mind, you are in the moment just you and the pet or person you are depicting. Its a special time where the vision in your mind then evolves in front of you.
The next fun part is the reaction of the recipient, its so great to be able to bring pleasure to others.
My four legged bundle of fun is Mable a flat/golden retriever cross, she certainly keeps me on my toes and leads me on daily walking adventures. She has also been the inspiration for some pet portraits.
